Annual Events

Picture Day
Say Cheese!  In September, a parent volunteer coordinates with a photography company to set up 2-3 photo areas within the school (typically held in Multipurpose room and LMC) to take photos of all Ferber students and staff to then be purchased by parents and added to yearbook. Several other volunteers are needed to help coordinate and make this day happen. There is also a make-up/re-take day just in case.

Tough Kid Challenge

An AASD district-wide, non-competitive 1.5 mile obstacle course event for students at Highlands Elementary school. Participants (6-12 years old) will challenge their agility on 16-18 obstacles. Money raised will be put into two grants - one the AASD PhyEd department and the other for Education of Healthy Kids Institute, which is sponsored by AASD.

Ferber will directly benefit from both grants. Concessions will be served and the proceeds will be split by all schools who have volunteers help run the stand. For more information go to www.aasd.k12.wi.us/district/fox_valley_tough_kid_challenge

Conference Dinners/6th Grade Babysitting
Teachers work hard to provide parent/teacher conferences. They do not have time to leave school after class to get dinner before conferences, so the PTO organizes Conference Dinners as a nice perk for them to sit down together for 30 minutes and eat something before conferences begin. Parent volunteers coordinate the dinners for October and March conferences. A menu is decided upon by the volunteers and a Sign-up Genius is set up to collect food, drink, table cloths, plates, cups, utensils, etc. It can be as simple as soup and salad or as elaborate as a taco bar.  This event is always appreciated by our teachers/staff.

No sitter for conference night? No problem!! Another part of this service is 6th Grade Babysitting – Ferber 6th graders (along with a parent), volunteer to babysit for the students and siblings of parents coming in for conferences. A drop-off is set up in the Multipurpose Room and voluntary monetary donations for this perk go toward the 6th Grade Farewell. Games and activities are provided for a good time had by all!

Family Movie Night

A FREE movie night for students, parents, and siblings (parents are required to stay). A projector is set up in the gym and kids are welcome to show up in their pajamas, with blankets, and even to bring in boxes decorated with the movie theme to hang out in and enjoy the movie! We will be showing what’s new on the big screen. Popcorn and water is provided.

Ferber Dance Party
The Ferber Dance Party is a FREE of charge night the kids never want to miss!  Join your friends and classmates and dance along to great music that Mrs. Jadin has coordinated moves to from gym class. There will be a real DJ, fun dancing, conga lines, the limbo, photo booth with props, concessions, and games for non-dancers in the Mulitpurpose room.  Siblings are welcome; parents are required to stay with kids.

Multicultural/Art Night

A blend of different cultures and the arts come together in one night at Ferber! Families can volunteer to set up tables/booths to showcase their family's heritage or one that is near to their hearts. Food sampling from each country and educational information is abundant at each station. Art projects are coordinated by Ferber’s art teacher or by classroom and then set up for silent auction bidding.

Each grade level works on a project to be showcased this night as well— some fantastic projects have been created. Student art is also displayed all around the school this night. In addition, our music teacher coordinates student performances from piano, strings, voice, and musical instruments. Lastly, Hmong dancers perform a variety of traditional dances. It’s a night you don’t want to miss!

Ferber Fun Run
Ferber is all about encouraging our students and families to stay fit! The Fun Run (or Walk if you choose) is an evening event for Ferber kids and their entire family. Choose from a 1/2 mile or 1 mile course set up on the Ferber/Classical/Einstein grounds. Our gym teacher Mrs. Jadin gets everyone pumped up, warmed-up, and ready to have fun with a DJ and some great music. Refreshments are included.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week (TAW)

This is a nationally celebrated week where PTO and Ferber families honor all of our awesome teachers and staff! Each day of that week has a special surprise in store around the school or in the teacher’s lounge to show our appreciation for all they do. Most importantly, through different activities, the students themselves are given the opportunity to personally show their thanks and appreciation to their teachers.

Field Day/Volunteer Thank You Lunch
The most memorable day for all students! Each Spring, a number of stations are set up outside and around school for the kids to participate in, challenge themselves, and have fun. Like a mini-Olympics, there are agility stations, parachutes, and some sport challenges.

Parent volunteers are needed for this event each year to help smoothly run each station. Half of the students participate in the morning, the second half go in the afternoon. This day is also the Volunteer Thank You Lunch. Ferber teachers bring in a dish to help provide lunch and say thank you to volunteers at Field Day and to all of our other AWESOME PTO volunteers from throughout the year.

6th Grade Farewell

A fun, celebratory ceremony for students finishing 6th grade! Through different parent volunteers and 6th grade teachers, a program is presented for graduates, songs are performed by each class, and a reception of drinks and cookies follows. Conference Babysitting and Dance Party concession sales help fund this event.

Blessings in a Backpack

This is a national program that Ferber participates in that helps feed kids at our school to ensure that no one goes hungry over the weekend. Qualifiers are anonymous and receive a "backpack" of food, pantry staples, and snacks to take home on Fridays.

Parent volunteers pack up the backpacks once a week and deliver them to students/classrooms.  An excellent and fun way to help make a difference in our community!
